Is the program for Journalism majors only?

No, all majors are welcome and add another dimension to the program. INTS majors like the program as it completes their 10-week abroad requirement.

Is Spanish fluency required?

Fluency is not required, however, at least 4 semesters of Spanish is recommended. You can get by if only being a tourist, but interacting with Spanish Companies is much more difficult without a good knowledge of the language. Also, some of the host families don't speak English.

Is it possible to only go on the first 5-weeks of the program?

Yes, you can sign up for only 5-weeks or for the entire 10-week program.

What kinds of Internships are available?

Internships will mainly be in the PR field of Journalism. You will have the opportunity of choosing the type of company you want to work for. Then our coordinator with La Salle University will try to provide you with that internship.

What kind of housing is available?

All students will be housed with a host family in Mexico City in the area surrounding La Salle University. Usually 2 students are housed together for safety purposes when traveling to the University and to your internship.

Should I bring checks or cash or travelers checks or credit card?

Some cash, stash it in several places and pull it as you need it. Students frequently mention that debit cards are helpful. Only certain banks take travelers checks and it is a hassle.

How far will i be living from school?

All the homes where students stay are within one mile of the school so that students can easily walk. There are some homes that live near a bus route and that is an option as well. They usually place the males farthest away.

What kind of things will i be doing at my job?

It is different for each job. Because it is a PR trip, you will most likely be doing a PR related job...news releases, tv, radio, newspapers, magazines, PR firms. if you are not interested in PR and are just on this trip for the credit or experience, then they can do their best to fix you up with something you are more interested in.
