Will I be able to go anywhere while I am there?
Yes, you must go with at least one other person. Also, women should always go with another female at night.
4. What's the easiest way to exchange money while I am there? There will be exchange booths in the airport once you arrive. Also, on the bus to your destination, a CPI representative will be able to exchange a small amount of currency for you. Once at the study center, a CPI representative goes to the bank twice a week to exchange money for the students.
How much money should I bring?
Most students spend on average $5,500-$7,000 for the entire program. The program cost will be between $3,500
and $4,000. This includes a program deposit of $300, administrative fee,
home stay accommodations, all meals, in country transportation, accommodations/transportation on all field trips,
and insurance. It does NOT include TAMU tuition/fees, books and other course
materials, passport, or airfare to and from Costa Rica.
It depends on your personal spending habits as to how much you will need. Former students suggest budgeting roughly $300-$500
in spending money.
