International Education Fee Scholarship - Undergraduate and Graduate

$1,000 or $2,000

Funded by the International Education Fee, this primarily merit-based scholarship furnishes $500 or $1,000 depending on the length of the program and is granted to a student only once in their current degree/non-degree program. 
 

Eligibility: Currently-enrolled Texas A&M University student who pays the International Education Fee

Study Abroad Fellowship - Undergraduate and Graduate

$1,000 or $2,000

Through the generosity of the Association of Former Students and Barnes & Noble Bookstore, this financial need-based scholarship was created for graduate and undergraduate Texas A&M students. Various Study Abroad Program Office online forms and other requirements must be met before the application deadlines to ensure eligibility.

Globetrotter Grant - Undergraduate and Graduate

$1,500

The Globetrotter Grant for Texas A&M University is an effort to enhance the learning process by encouraging international understanding through travel. It is intended to allow students with a thirst for knowledge of other cultures, other languages, and other landscapes to journey to places where they can explore those interests. Some applicants will want to see how others live, some will want to serve those in need, some will want to explore career fields, and some will just want to embark on a great personal adventure. There are no restrictions on the reason for travel. The $1500 award is meant to be a supplement to a planned trip.  The money can be used for transportation to and from the destination, travel within the country(ies) visited, or for incidentals or indulgences that add to the pleasure of the trip or to the memories of it.

These grants are need-based awards (need is determined by Student Financial Aid) for graduate students who are Texas residents.

OAS Fellowship - Graduate

The fundamental objective of the Organization of American States (OAS) is to promote the economic, social, scientific and cultural development of the Member States in order to achieve a stronger bond and better understanding among the peoples of the Americas. The OAS provides several hundred fellowships for graduate studies and research throughout the Americas. 
 

Eligibility: US Citizens

Deadline: Applications must be presented to the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development (IACD) in Washington, D.C., by no later than January 15th of each year

NSEP – National Security Education Program - Undergraduate and Graduate

Up to $20,000

For credit-bearing study abroad experiences. This national program awards scholarships to American undergraduate and graduate students to study foreign countries and world regions critical to U.S. National Security. NSEP awards are available for a maximum of $10,000 per semester or $20,000 per academic year. The competition is merit-based. Summer study is available for juniors and seniors IF they are majoring in an applied science or engineering.
 

Eligibility: US Citizenship enrolled in a degree program and who wish to pursue international studies and research in areas outside Western Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.

Memorial Student Center Overseas Loan Fund - Undergraduate and Graduate

$300 - $1,000

This interest-free loan is available to Texas A&M undergraduate and graduate students for foreign travel.

Eligibility: Only full-time Texas A&M students participating in University-sponsored cultural travel or those traveling for academic or career-related reasons are eligible. A 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA for graduate students is required and all students must be returning to Texas A&M for at least a semester after their international experience. 
 

Deadline: 1st Tuesday of the month from October through February (for summer, fall and spring)

MSC L.T. Jordan Fellows Program - Undergraduate and Graduate

Up to $2,000

This fellowship is designed specifically for individual study or research and is not designed to fund a Study/Internship Abroad program. In return for a travel assistance grant, each Fellow is required to produce a paper and slide presentation summarizing their travel experiences.
 

Eligibility: Undergraduate and Graduate degree seeking students who are U.S. citizens.

Gilman International Scholarship - Undergraduate

Up to $5,000

The Benjamin Gilman International Scholarship is a federally funded program that attempts to reduce barriers to studying abroad by providing assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. Please note that this scholarship is for fall, spring, and academic year programs only.  Summer only programs are not eligible. 
 

Eligibility: Applicant must be receiving federal Pell Grant funding during the academic term of his/her application.

Fulbright Grant - Graduate

Varies

The awards are for research and/or study abroad.
 

Eligibility: Graduating seniors and graduate students, who have not been awarded their Ph.D, and are a U.S. citizen. Foreign language proficiency is required for these one-year grants in most foreign countries.

Deadline: National application deadline is October 25 with the campus deadline in mid-September of each year (note: the process is lengthy). Applicants must apply through the Honors Office at Texas A&M.

British Marshall Scholarship - Graduate

This scholarship is awarded for a two-year Master’s program at a British Institution.
 

Eligibility: Recipients must be under the age of twenty-six by October 1st of the year of the award and have a Bachelor’s degree with an overall GPR of 3.7 by the date of the receipt of the award.

Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowships - Undergraduate

$5,000 stipend

The College of William and Mary established the Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowships to inspire the best of a new generation to pursue careers in public service.  The Awards are offered annually to three outstanding undergraduates from across the nation.  Each student will be given the opportunity to spend a summer in a professional position with the United Stats Department of State.
 

Eligibility: Junior and senior students in good standing with the university.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship - Undergraduate and Graduate

The mission of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is to help young people of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education.  We focus in particular on scholarships for outstanding individuals with financial need.

Rotary Scholarship - Undergraduate and Graduate

The Rotary Scholarship program sponsors several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students, including year-long, three month, or six month-long academic study in another country. Interested applicants must apply through a Rotary club in the applicant's legal or permanent residence.

The Rhodes Scholarship is available to graduating seniors and graduate students for 2 years of study at Oxford University.

German Academic Exchange Service Scholarships - Undergraduate and Graduate

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange - Undergraduate and Graduate

The CBYX for Young Professionals program is intended primarily for young adults in business, technical, vocational, and agricultural fields, though applicants from all fields are encouraged to apply. 75 Americans and 100 Germans participate in the program each year. For American participants, the 12-month program begins in late July, and consists of 2 months of intensive German language training in Germany, 4 months classroom instruction at a German University or College of Applied Sciences, and a 5-month internship in their career field.
 

Eligibility: U.S. citizens or permanent residents between the ages of 18 and 24 with clear career goals, some relevant work experience, an interest in German and international affairs, and a strong sense of American identity.

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant - Undergraduate

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. 
 

Eligibility: Students from schools with a Phi Kappa Phi chapter who have completed between 30-90 credit hours before studying abroad, have a 3.5 GPR or higher, have at least two semesters left at their home university upon returning from study abroad, and have been accepted to their study abroad program by February 15.

Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program - Graduate

As the field of biomedical engineering has developed, it has expanded into a global discipline. As biomedical engineers in the United States, you know that work in the field is becoming more refined, and sometimes the best place to study or conduct research may not be domestic. At this time, there are few opportunities to go abroad and leverage international expertise. However, one of those opportunities is the Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program.

The goal of the Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program is to assist in the development of professional leaders who are not only superb engineers and scientists, but who also will lead and serve the profession with an international outlook. The Whitaker Foundation encourages young biomedical engineers who are keen for an international experience to take advantage of this program.

 

Eligibility: U.S. citizens who will have completed their bachelors or masters degree within two years of the program start date but have not received a doctorate degree and who have the language ability to carry out their project in the host country.

Designed to support foreign language training and other academic studies abroad, this grant provides supplemental funds for American students who already are studying abroad under the auspices of an official study abroad program conducted by an accredited academic institution.
