Eligibility/Rules

 

Faculty-Led Programs

Eligibility requirements for faculty-led programs are specific to each individual program. Nevertheless, the basic eligibility for all programs is listed below. Please check on the individual program pages for any additional eligibility requirements.

  • Good standing with Texas A&M University and approval of the professor
  • Minimum 2.0 GPR
  • Must attend orientation classes in the semester prior to departure

Reciprocal Education Exchange Programs (REEPs)

  • All majors welcome
  • Must be a TAMU student for at least one semester prior to application
  • Must attend TAMU for at least one full semester after the exchange
  • Must have a 3.0 GPR
  • Must have language proficiency (written and oral); 2-4 semesters of college level language studies; 3-4 semesters of Spanish for the Mexico; 5-6 semester of Spanish for Ecuador exchange; 3-4 semesters of Japanese for Japan; 4-6 semesters of German for Germany and French for Switzerland and France exchanges.
  • Junior Classification by beginning of exchange

Transfer Credit Study Abroad, Research, Internships, and Volunteer Programs

  • All Texas A&M students must be in good standing and have a minimum 2.0 GPR at the time of completing their Texas A&M Transfer Credit Study Abroad Pre-Approval form to participate in an Transfer Credit Study Abroad program. Although this is the minimum requirement for Texas A&M, eligibility requirements vary between programs. However, most require that you are, at a minimum, in good standing with Texas A&M University.
  • If your GPR is below the eligibility requirements for a Transfer Credit Study Abroad program in which you are interested, please contact the program to see whether students below the GPR requirement can still be considered.
  • Please note the Texas A&M Travel Rules below. Texas A&M University undergraduate students are not allowed to travel to a country with a U.S. Department of State Travel Warning in place. Should you have any questions regarding this travel rule, please direct them to the Study Abroad Programs Office.
