Press Release:
Fox News correspondents Karl Rove and Juan Williams will discuss the first 100 days of the Obama Administration at this year’s MSCC Wiley Lecture Main Program on Friday, April 3rd. The program will begin at 8pm in Rudder Auditorium. Tickets for the program can be purchased through the MSCC Box Office.
Rove is primarily familiar to audiences for his role as Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff in the George W. Bush Administration, but since leaving the Bush Administration in 2007 he has remained in the public eye by offering political strategy analysis in frequent appearances on Fox News programs and writing regular columns for The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek.
Williams is most familiar to Americans for his regular contributions to Fox News and National Public Radio, but he is also an accomplished and prolific author who has written six books, including the bestselling Eyes on the Prize: America’s Civil Rights Years, 1954-1965, and Thurgood Marshall: American Revolutionary, which was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year.
According to Sarah Russell, Chair of the student-run committee organizing the program, this year’s Wiley Program should have particular appeal for local audiences due to the high amount of attention paid to the Obama Administration’s handling of the current economic crisis, and the high level of support for President Obama’s candidacy among younger voters during the Presidential election. Russell also notes that the two program speakers will likely deliver a program that is both informative and entertaining. Not only do the two men frequently appear with one another on Fox News, they are also both seasoned and polished public speakers.
The MSCC Wiley Lecture Series is currently in its 27th year of bringing prominent national and international leaders to Texas A&M University. Past speakers have included world leaders such as former U.S. Presidents George H.W. Bush, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, former U.S.S.R. President Mikhail Gorbachev, journalist Walter Cronkite, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, and former State President of South Africa F. W. de Klerk.
Tickets for the Wiley Lecture Series Main Program featuring Karl Rove and Juan Williams have gone on sale. Tickets are on sale for only $5 at the MSCC Box Office. They may also be purchased online at http://boxoffice.tamu.edu. You may also call 979-845-1234. We look forward to seeing each of you there.
