David Caulkins
Communication
David is a senior Communication
major with a Business minor from San
Antonio, Texas.
Involvement for
David began during his freshman year
at Texas A&M in the Student
Government Association (SGA) as a
Fish Aide and as a member of the
Environmental Issues Committee (EIC).
After his freshman year, David
continued his involvement with EIC;
during his junior year, he also
became a member of SGA
Communication, a committee dedicated
to keeping the student body informed
on the activities of the Student
Government. In 2006, he was chosen
to be a delegate for the MSC Abbott
Family Leadership Conference in San
Antonio and afterwards was chosen as
the Director of Delegates for the
2007 San Antonio conference. In
addition, David has participated in
the annual Ideas Challenge sponsored
by the Mays Business School Center
for New Ventures and
Entrepreneurship and has for the
past two years been chosen as a
finalist for his ideas.
Academically,
David is part of the honors program
and has excelled in all of his
classes. Maintaining a high GPR he
has been on the academic honor roll
every semester and was recently
named as the first ever recipient of
the Communication Alumni Endowment
for Excellence Award. David has
also used his academic time at Texas
A&M to continue pursuing his
interest in the international world
by taking four semesters of Japanese
language classes.
In 2006, David
and his brother created a Texas surf
apparel company called Lone Star
Surf Company. Since the official
kick-off in April of 2006, they have
sold hundreds of shirts and
currently have them for sale online
and in four different apparel stores
along the Gulf Coast. David’s other
interests include learning,
traveling, investing, and trying to
be creative through thinking of
invention ideas, writing music, and
dabbling in photography.
Upon graduation David hopes to
pursue his interest in Japanese
culture by traveling to Japan for a
year and teaching English in a local
school. After this he hopes to
spend some time working in the
business world while still working
with young people. |
